KOEN)
At the shareholders' meeting, which was held on November 16, the main shareholder - US company AES Washington Holdings B.V., which owns 75% stake, took a decision to refuse collective leadership in favor of one-man management. The shareholders' meeting abolished Kyivoblenergo's management board and delegated all power to the General Director - William Prebil. The name of Kyivoblenergo was also changed at the meeting. Now this Ukrainian power distributor is called A.E.S. Kyivoblenergo.
It has been known that rise in tariff for electric power transmission was one of the conditions of AES Washington Holdings B.V. investments in the Ukrainian power energy. But this issue is not solved yet. In this connection William Prebil announced that AES Washington Holdings B.V. suspended its investment programme till the correspondent decision of the Ukrainian authorities. AES Washington Holdings B.V. intended to invest in Kyivoblenergo $40 mln. These funds were planned to be used for modernization of obsolete power equipment, transmission lines and design for power consumption registration. Currently Kyivoblenergo makes 100% payment for electric power purchased at the energy market.
